From the Editorial Co-Directors

Dear Colleagues,

One of the most important tasks we have as editorial co-directors of The American Journal for Nurse Practitioners is finding the best articles to publish each month. We search for articles containing cutting-edge clinical content and educational information that is useful to NPs in primary care or specialty practice and to NPs who work in offices, clinics, hospitals, universities, or other settings. In essence, we are searching for content that meet the needs of all NPs far and wide. These are the types of questions that we hope that our articles are answering for you:

How can I improve my implementation of evidence-based practice in my management plans?

How can I enhance my patients’ health-promoting behaviors?

How can I be more sensitive to my patients’ cultural needs?

What can be done to improve the APN scope of practice in my state?

What legislation is needed for APNs to be better able to serve their patients?

How can I initiate better networking ties among my APN colleagues to improve healthcare outcomes of the populations we serve?

What other content would you like to see in AJNP? What do you need to read in the journal to keep current in your practice? Which clinical, policy, and education concerns are you confronting in this complex healthcare environment? Our goal is to maintain our place as the premier journal for NPs caring for patients across the lifespan. You can help us in three ways: by conveying particular content areas you would like to see covered, by providing feedback on content already covered, and by writing an article for us yourself. We look forward to hearing from you! You keep us editors on our toes! Please let your colleagues know about the online version of the journal, which is available by subscription and which differs from the print version in several respects. AJNP Online is published 10 times a year, whereas the print version is published 6 times a year. Compared with the print issues, the online issues contain expanded content—more articles, longer articles, and articles containing images better displayed electronically than in print. In terms of convenience, subscribers can read the journal on their smart phone or iPad, as well as on their home or office computer. For a fee of $25 a year, subscribers can access AJNP Online and The Pearson Report, which is available only online.

Thanks!
